BioEnergyTrain has developed two Master programs. “Biorefinery Engineering” and “Bioresource Value chain Management”. For these programmes the BET-partners developed course materials. The TUHH developed the course on “Residue- and by-product based bioresources – characterization, properties and pathways”. It includes following lectures, which are also implemented in the TUHH lecture series on “Bioresources and biorefineries”:

  • Biorefinery overview: The biobased economy and their resources, tools and products: An overview

  • Bioresources categories: The four types of bioresources - Definition, composition, categories, applications

  • Bioresource composition: The composition of bioresources – Compounds, quantities, interactions, analytics

  • Rural residues Rural bioresource management today – The agricultural residue sector

  • Wood residue chains: Wood flows and applications – primary wood, residual wood, waste wood, woody landscaping residues and their cascade utilization

  • Urban residues: Bioresource management today – The municipal solid waste and wastewater sector

  • Regional management Hamburg’s : Bioresource management in Hamburg – yesterday, today and tomorrow

  • Biogas Systems: The generation and application of biogas and digestates

  • Grass residue chains: Urban and rural grass cuttings – Types, pathways and products

  • Industrial waste examples: Generation, treatment and utilization of paper waste paper deinking sludge from waste paper industry

  • Territorial biorefinery systems: The territorial biorefinery as regional networking approach – Basics and initial realization steps as well as examples

  • Food footprints: The food chain from agriculture over consumer to residue whereabouts – landuse, reactive nitrogen and greenhouse gas emissions

  • Bioplastic chains: The production of biobased plastics under special consideration of the residue sector

  • Innovative regional management Lübeck: Utilization of regional waste and wastewater based bioresources on the example of an ecoinnovative neighborhood in Lübeck

  • Innovative regional management Hamburg: Utilization of regional waste and wastewater based bioresources on the example of the eco-innovative city quarter Jenfelder Au
