General steps

There is three steps you need to take

1. Check the subject-specific admission requirements,
2. Pass the pre-check,
3. File the application.

A Bachelor's or equivalent degree from a recognized university in a relevant subject matching the respective Master's degree course at TUHH as well as a very good previous academic performance are required for admission to the Master's degree courses at TUHH.

During a short mandatory online pre-check we will check in particular if your GPA is meeting our admission requirements. The mandatory pre-check only takes two minutes time and does not require any preparation.

Once you have completed the mandatory pre-check we will send you an e-mail to advise on whether you have a reasonable chance of gaining admission for an international Master's degree at the TUHH.
If you do, this e-mail will include a link to our online application portal.

Note: It is not possible to access the application portal without having completed and passed the mandatory pre-check.

Deadlines

• The mandatory online pre-check is available from December 1, 2025 to February 1, 2026. 
  The pre-check can be found here.
   
• The application period for the online application for winter semester 2026/27 starts on December 1, 2026 and ends on February 1, 2026. 

Exceptions for Master degree courses "Computer Science" and "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology"

• pre-check and online applications are open
  • for winter semester 2026/27 from June 1 to July 15. The pre-check can be found here.
  • for summer semester 2026 from December 1 to January 15. The pre-check can be found here.
• The degree program is generally not internationally oriented. Admission can be expected from February 2026 at the earliest. Please note this if you come from outside the EU. The TUHH cannot assist with visa procedures and, for reasons of duty of care, does not issue certificates that allow delayed entry after the start of studies. In principle, we expect you to be present in person at the start of your studies.
