Research at the School of MST

The diverse research activities of the School of Management Sciences and Technology can be summarized under the heading "Innovative Value Networks". The most important research topics of the deanery are the fields of logistics, transport and supply chain management as well as technology and innovation management (TIMES-X). In both fields, the areas of risk management and sustainability in particular are examined from different angles as essential cross-sectional research topics.

Research topic "Logistics, transport and supply chain management".

Logistics, trade and production as well as the associated global value chains are currently undergoing fundamental change. This has a major impact on the existing and new technical infrastructure to be created. Added to this is climate change as a global challenge for all the areas mentioned. Numerous new technologies, for example from the field of digitalization and artificial intelligence, are driving innovation and enabling the development of completely new structures and processes.

► The research topic is reflected in the research focus Logistics Management and Technology.
► Interdisciplinary bundling with other topics takes place in the research field Logistics, Mobility and Infrastructure.
► The master's degree programs in Logistics, Infrastructure and Mobility and International Management and Engineering take up the content of the research topic.

Research Topic "Technology and Innovation Management ("TIMES-X")

TIMES-X refers to management research that focuses on firms as critical actors in the development and application of new technologies. Understanding the emergence, development, and impact of modern technologies requires a business perspective, as technologies are developed, absorbed, and applied within companies. Their specific characteristics and attributes thus also determine the scale and direction of societal impact.

An important common focus is the circular economy: in a circular economy, economic activity rebuilds and rebuilds the health of the overall system. The concept recognizes the importance of making the economy work effectively at all levels - for businesses large and small, for organizations and individuals, at global and local levels. The transition to a Circular Economy is not just about adjustments aimed at reducing the negative impacts of the linear economy. Rather, it is a systemic change that builds long-term resilience, creates business and economic opportunities, and brings environmental and societal benefits. Institutes and workgroups of the School of MST

Beyond these two research topics, there are numerous exciting research projects in many other research areas, such as corporate strategy, marketing, controlling or corporate research, which are pursued by the individual institutes or jointly by several institutes. You can see the respective research areas of the institutes and workgroups directly on the institute pages.
