In our Language Cafés you’ll have the chance to improve your language skills in a relaxed setting, meet new people, and enjoy interesting conversations. Each session is led by native speakers, giving you the chance to experience the language and culture firsthand.

An open meeting in the art room for all students and employees who are interested in art, creativity, and intercultural exchange. Together we will pick topics to work on and explore the cultural life in Hamburg.

Here you can connect with others, get creative together, and develop your own ideas for artistic activities on campus.

The ArtRoom project “Quo Vadis” is all about exploring your personal places of longing—and turning them into art.

Join us for relaxed workshop session in a studio near TUHH. Together, we’ll play with painting techniques, get inspired, and create your own visual ideas.

No experience needed—just come as you are. All materials are provided, and a professional artist will guide you along the way.

We’ll wrap things up with a small exhibition at TUHH, where you can showcase what you’ve created.

Join us for a guided walk through Hamburg’s historic Grindelviertel, where we will explore the former sites of synagogues and other Jewish institutions that once shaped the neighborhood.

Along the way, we will hear about the stories and fates of Jewish residents who lived here, shedding light on their lives before and during the Nazi era. The tour will also reflect on different forms of remembrance, including the “Stolpersteine” (stumbling stones) — small memorial plaques placed in front of the last voluntarily chosen homes of those who were persecuted and murdered.

The tour will be in English.

Explore Hamburg while improving your German! Join us for a guided tour in easy German of Hamburg City Hall, the political heart of the city.

During the tour, we will visit the most important rooms of this impressive building and learn about its history as well as how politics works in Hamburg. In the plenary chamber, you will have the chance to take on the role of a member of the Hamburg parliament, discuss current topics with other participants, and vote together on different issues.

Open to learners with German B1+ level who’d like to experience the city and language together.

Join us for a fun and relaxed evening at the International Affairs BBQ Party! Meet fellow students, make new friends, and enjoy a great atmosphere together.

The event is completely free, and grilled food as well as drinks will be provided.

Intercultural Basics: University Culture

Ever wondered how different cultures influence our daily lives. Join our intercultural workshop series this summer semester—open to all students! Each session dives into a different aspect of studying and living in an international environment.

Our next session, “University Culture,” takes a closer look at the norms, expectations, and everyday experiences you encounter at TUHH or another university abroad. Through engaging activities, discussions, and short exchange formats, we’ll share experiences, reflect on different perspectives, and learn from each other.

For some students it is soon time to say goodbye to Hamburg. Just before you leave, we’d like to invite you to enjoy the city once more in a very different way and connect with fellow students before your ways part.

An evening light cruise is a one-hour cruise through the harbour area and on some days (depending on the tide) also through the illuminated Speicherstadt. It is a unique opportunity to see Hamburg by night and to take a closer look at the harbour area from the water.
