Collaborating with TU Hamburg

Harness the innovative power of Hamburg University of Technology – for research, skilled professionals, and sustainable solutions in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region and beyond.

Hamburg University of Technology (TU Hamburg) has been closely connected with regional, national, and international industry for decades. Guided by its motto “Technology for Humanity”, TU Hamburg develops sustainable technical solutions for the major challenges of our time: from the climate crisis and digitalization to the transformation of business and industry. Its goal is to secure prosperity and quality of life for people in the long term – in Hamburg, in Germany, and worldwide.

Within the strategic initiative “Engineering to Face Climate Change”, TU Hamburg unites the expertise of its institutes across civil engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineering, biotechnology, electrical engineering, computer science, logistics, and mobility. Together with partners from industry, science, and society, we create innovative solutions for a climate-neutral, resilient, and competitive future. Application areas range from sustainable construction, renewable energies, and water and resource management to maritime and aviation technologies, machine learning, robotics, medical technology, and circular economy.

For companies, foundations, and partner organizations in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region, there are numerous opportunities to collaborate with TU Hamburg – for example in attracting and developing young talent, in research and technology transfer, or in continuing education. Our collaborations are practice-oriented, reliable, and individually designed, with short decision-making processes, transparent agreements, and dedicated contact persons.

Students apply their knowledge in real-world company projects, such as in theses, practical projects, or doctoral research. Our graduates are the skilled professionals of tomorrow – ready to tackle future challenges and drive innovation and value creation in business and industry. The dual study program dual@TUHH combines academic excellence with practical company experience, enabling employers to identify and retain qualified talent at an early stage. Participation in the TU Hamburg Career Center’s programs likewise strengthens early contact between companies and future employees. Support for young engineering talent can begin even earlier through Nachwuchs@TUHH programs aimed at school students.

Knowledge and technology transfer have been central to TU Hamburg since its foundation. Together with partners from industry, start-ups, and public institutions, TU Hamburg brings research results into practical application. Direct cooperation between TU Hamburg and industry can take place within the framework of contract research via Tutech Innovation GmbH. The range of support extends from mediating industrial development projects to initiating research collaborations and thematic networks.

Many partners of TU Hamburg are also committed to supporting research and education through funding and endowments. Through the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship program, for instance, more than 50 companies and foundations support talented students and demonstrate social responsibility. Those wishing to make an even greater impact can endow a professorship, thereby establishing new areas of innovation and research.

In the field of continuing education, TU Hamburg also supports companies in the targeted qualification of their employees – with programs offered by the Northern Institute of Technology Management (NIT), postgraduate master’s degrees, and courses via the Hamburg Open Online University (HOOU).

Together, we shape the future through technology:
We combine scientific excellence with application-oriented research, foster talent for the economy of tomorrow, and bring innovations from the Hamburg Metropolitan Region to the world.
