Students of TU Hamburg interested in spending a semester or year at a partner university as well as students from partner universities coming to Hamburg University of Technology will find information on the website of the International Office.
You can find information on how to set up your TU account here
Using the Student Self-Service Function you can print out enrollment certificates at any time that can be verified by third parties. The semester documents also include a two-language enrollment certification. Should you nevertheless require a certificate that is stamped and signed, please come to STUDIS during office hours. There is a €6 charge for certificates that you can pay at STUDIS, directly and by ec card only, please. If you cannot attend in person please send us an e-mail to study@tuhh.de stating your student registration number, the semester for which you are requesting a certificate, and whether or not the standard study period should be listed. Please then remit the amount due to the bank account shown below.
Have you deregistered already but need a new printout of your deregistration certificate or pension insurance certificate? Then please come to STUDIS during our office hours where you will be issued with a replacement printout for a fee of €6, payable by ec card only, please. If you cannot attend in person please send us an e-mail to study@tuhh.de stating your student registration number (or, alternatively, your date of birth) and current address.
Please then remit the amount due to the bank account shown below.
NB: The TUHH has only issued electronic pension insurance certificates since 2002. If you completed your studies at the TUHH before 2002 you do not need to pay a fee for a first-time issue of this certificate. In case of doubt, please contact STUDIS.
Do you require proof for your tax return, for example, of how much you paid in tuition or semester fees under your student registration number at the TUHH? We will be happy to issue you with a certificate for that too (it costs €6). Please come to STUDIS during our office hours where the fee is payable by ec card only. If you cannot attend in person please send us an e-mail to study@tuhh.de stating your student registration number, your current address and the semesters for which you require a certificate and then remit the amount due to the bank account shown below.
From the summer semester 2024, the semester documents will be made available completely in digital form. Click here here for information.

If you no longer want to continue your studies at the TUHH you will need to apply for deregistration.
You will find the application form here.
Please read the instructions below and send the completed and signed application to the Student Services by post or e-mail or drop the application in the letterbox at building E (entrance I). The TUHH will send you the deregistration certificate by post approx. 1-2 weeks after receipt of the application at the TUHH. The exmatriculation certificate serves as proof of your periods of study at TUHH and will be required later for pension insurance. Therefore, keep the original in a safe place.
In principle, exmatriculation is possible on any date within a semester for which the re-registration was made. Backdated deregistration is excluded.
Please note that the TUHH exmatriculates all students automatically who have not re-registered for the next semester, i.e. have not paid the semester fee. Deregestration then takes place on 31.03 for the end of a winter semester or on 30.09 for the end of a summer semester. The official notification of exmatriculation due to lack of re-registration is sent out with a time delay. (Beginning of May for exmatriculations as of 31.03., beginning of November for exmatriculations as of 30.09.).
Exmatriculation upon passing the final examination:
In principle, you do not have to apply for exmatriculation yourself because you have passed your final examination. This is done automatically at the end of the semester in which you received/will receive your certificate. If you need a certificate of deregistration before the end of the semester, you can also exmatriculate yourself at any time using the application form above. The deregistration has no effect on the issuing of the certificate. If you apply for exmatriculation but your degree has not yet been submitted to the Examinations Office, you will automatically receive a corrected form of the exmatriculation certificate with the graduation date entered at a later date.
Exmatriculation in the case of an examination that has been definitively failed:
Exmatriculation takes place ex officio, i.e. you do not have to apply for it separately. As soon as the deadline for appealing the grade decision of the Examination Office with the notification of the final failure has expired, you will be deregistered by the Student Services. If you wish to deregister before then, this is possible upon application.
Note for calling up certificates after de-registration
After deregistration you will have access to the TUHH-Computer Center-account for a maximum period of 6 months. Certificates can be downloaded from the TUNE portal for a period of six months after de-registration. For future use you should print necessary documents like enrolment certificates or transcripts of records within this period. After the expiration of this term confirmations or certificates have to be paid. After this period has expired, please contact the responsible Examination Office for examination matters and the Student Services (STUDIS) for study matters.
You won't be able to continue your studies due to, for example, child education?
In the following instances you are entitled to deregister for a limited period and reregister at a later date:
The legal basis is "Satzung über das Studium an der TUHH". But please get in contact with STUDIS before applying for such kind of deregistration.

Reregistration involves paying your semester contribution on time (!). It means that the contribution must be credited to the TUHH's bank account by the reregistration deadline at the latest.
NB: This deadline and also the sum of the semester contribution do not apply to students registering for the first time at the TUHH. These students please do not pay until they have received the enrolment confirmation with payment information online in their application status!
For information on the composition of the current semester fee of EUR 386,00 and the notification of contributions, please click here. Students who start their studies at the TUHH for the first time in the winter semester 2025/26 will find the confirmation of enrollment including the payment request in your application portal after enrollment.

If you have not received any documents 14 days after the transfer in your self-service-portal TUNE, please check in the self-service-portal TUNE whether the re-registration is possibly blocked or whether the semester fee was actually transferred with the correct intended purpose.
In case you missed the reregistration deadline, an additional fee of 30 € has to be paid (according to the "Satzung über die Erhebung von Gebühren an der TUHH"). The 30 € have to be paid to:

The Stud.IP learning platform was developed by students for students and, in addition to a wide variety of learning opportunities, also includes tools for students to communicate with each other, e.g., for organizing and implementing study groups. Another feature for personal use is the ePortfolios. They provide support at the beginning of your studies, during the application phase at the end of your studies, and overall for self-reflection and the development of interdisciplinary skills for lifelong learning.
The computer center provides access to the eLearning platform and, in close cooperation with the library, supports students and teachers in all matters relating to eLearning. Information materials and further assistance on the subject of eLearning can be found here. Feel free to contact us at any time. We welcome your suggestions or questions and will be happy to help you!

And the deadline of application for German language Master's degree courses (under restriction) expires on July 15 (winter semester only). The deadline for German language Master's programmes (free from restriction) expires on January 15 (summer semester) and July 15 (winter semester). The deadline for the international Master's courses expires on March 1 (winter semester only).
Enrolment into the Bachelor's programs, the restricted Master's programs and the international Master's courses is possible only for the winter semester because of the academic year at TUHH. Please refer to the letter of admission concerning the deadline of enrolment.
For a change of your degree course within TUHH please contact the students registration office (“Studierendenservice”). Please observe the General Study Regulations, too.
The renewal of enrolment consists of the transfer of the semester contribution, which must be received by March 15 (summer semester) or September 15 (winter semester). Please make sure to use the transfer form provided by TUHH. Fees received after this deadline will be considered as late renewals, for which an administrative fee of € 30,00 must be charged. These deadlines are not valid for new students enrolling at the TUHH for the first time. They will receive a confirmation of enrolment with a request to pay the semester fee.
If you whish to take an official leave from your studies at TUHH, please submit the relevant application before the transfer of the semester fee to the students registration office (“Studierendenservice”). According to the enrolment regulations, a maximum of two sabbatical semesters may be taken during the whole study period (one semester during Bachelor studies and one during Master studies). The semester contribution must be paid for sabbatical semesters, too.
Applications for a guest status will be accepted up to four weeks after the start of the lecture period (please use the form provided by students registration office (“Studierendenservice”). For the guest student identity card a fee of € 102,25 must be paid. Particular categories of persons may apply for a fee reduction. Further information is available at the students registration office (“Studierendenservice”).
If you do not want to continue your studies at TUHH, please submit an application for exmatriculation to the students registration office (“Studierendenservice”).
Have you completed your studies at the TUHH or completed parts of them here at the TUHH? Would you like to have these periods confirmed for employers or recruiting companies? Or are you a potential employer or acting on behalf of one and want to have a person's study periods verified? Then please proceed as follows:
Please contact the administrator responsible for the degree program at our Student Services department. Please use study@tuhh.de for your inquiry. Please be sure to include a handwritten, signed power of attorney from the person whose degree or study periods are to be verified. Otherwise, we will not be able to provide any information. To ensure prompt and uncomplicated processing, we ask that you also provide at least the following information in your request: first and last name, date of birth, degree program, matriculation number (if available), periods of study, and/or graduation date.
The TUHH offers graduates who would like to continue their academic education after completing their degree course the option of reregistering as a student. Reregistering for further academic education is limited to two semesters. It is also pegged to an earnings limit that you must not exceed. The earnings limit corresponds to the basic scholarship amount of DFG (€1750 per month).
You must specify on application form your academic interest and further education plans and you have to bring a letter of acceptance of supervision written by a professor of TUHH.
And please note: Further academic education is no regular course of study. It is only an offer of TUHH to acquire further knowledge in the field of engineering sciences. You will get the student status but without having the right to take exams. As a rule there is no right to be under the statutory health insurance plan, too.
Special information for international graduates:
Please note that the times of further academic education will count for the 18 months of a residence permit for job search!
Further information and application forms are available from the Studierendenservice.
