Orientation on your study start

The Welcome Weeks Program is focused on your special situation of being new at TUHH. Our team will be able to assist you on your arrival in Hamburg and to help you get off to a good start on your study courses.

During your first days and weeks in Hamburg, we work in cooperation with other TUHH service departments to offer you:

  • Guidance and assistance on your arrival in Hamburg 
  • Support in dealing with initial paperwork 
  • Tutorials on the university system 
  • networking events 
  • Guided tours in Hamburg

19 September; 3 pm- Online Info Session: How to create your individual time table by using the TUHH IT System

Just starting out at university and not sure how to build your timetable? Don’t worry—we’ve got you covered! In this online session, our tutors will walk you through the basics, show you how to pick the right courses, and share tips for planning a smooth semester.

It’s free, relaxed, and the perfect chance to ask all your questions and connect with other students.

We invite you to a City Walk in Harburg, the district where the TUHH is located. Explore the local area, discover its highlights, and learn more about the neighborhood surrounding the university. It’s a great chance to get to know the area better and enjoy a pleasant walk in the heart of Harburg.

25 October, 10 am. - 5 pm. - Intercultural Training "Live & Study in Germany"

This intercultural training in English aims to support you in getting a head start for living and studying in Germany.

In our interactive training, you will have the opportunity to learn more about cultural values that might influence and impact your student experience, exchange and share ideas with your peers, and develop strategies for effective communication and making the most of your studies at TU Hamburg and your time in Germany.

24 October, 2.45 - 5.30 pm. - Hamburg City Hall + St. Nikolai

Join us for a guided tour of the impressive Hamburg City Hall. Discover its historic rooms, learn about the building's fascinating history, and gain valuable insights into local politics. The tour will be in English.

Afterwards, we will take a short walk to St. Nikolai Church, where you can enjoy stunning panoramic views of Hamburg from the tower. The church ruins, once the city’s main church, now serve as a memorial to the victims of the Second World War and offer a meaningful connection to Hamburg’s past.

15 October - Semester Opening Ceremony for Master and Exchange Students

All Master and Exchange Students are welcome to join the ceremony with following agenda:  the keynote adress by the TU President Prof. Timm-Giel, presentation about the university network and important facilities/ DAAD award ceremony/reception with snacks and drinks.

8 October - Campus Rally: Getting to know TUHH Campus Facilities

Join the event (no registration reguired)  to get to know the important university facilities and to use the opportunity to meet your fellow students.

This meeting is aimed at anyone who is learning or wants to learn German. There will be information on language courses at the TUHH and other opportunities to learn German at the TUHH and externally.

Intercultural Evening 'Living Culture in Germany'

We invite all new international students who will live in private housing to our Intercultural Evening 'Living Culture in Germany'. Get to know more about how to find accommodation and how to live in private housing. Get to know our tutors and your fellow students over snacks and drinks.
