Intensive / Preliminary Courses

For new students in the international study programs and for exchange students, intensive courses are offered regularly at the beginning of the winter semester. The courses give participants the opportunity to prepare for their stay at TUHH before the start of the semester, to improve their German and to meet their fellow students.

In summer, the TUHH and its cooperation partner Interkulturelle Bildung Hamburg (IBH e.V.) run German language summer courses totaling 100 hours.

New students in international Master's programs (in cooperation with IBH)

Our courses for new students in international Master's programs are usually held two weeks before the start of lectures. The course will be offered in cooperation with our partner Interkulturelle Bildung Hamburg (IBH e.V.) and are free of charge for TUHH students. It is an optional offer and no ECTS points are awarded for participation. Students will be contacted by email about further info on the course and how to register.

Intensive courses for exchange students (in cooperation with VHS)

For exchange students from partner universities we offer special pre-courses at the beginning of each winter semester in cooperation with our partner VHS. Students will be contacted by e-mail about further info on the course and registration.

External offer: Language course "Willkommen zum Studium in Deutschland" offered by Deutsch-Uni Online (DUO) for international students

Deutsch-Uni Online offers the language course "Welcome to Study in Germany" on the multimedia DUO learning platform. This course was developed especially for international students. It offers participants the opportunity to prepare for their start at university and imparts knowledge about studying, the language and culture in Germany.

The Deutsch-Uni Online is an external provider and charges fees for the course.
