Cooperation between TU Hamburg and UCTM exists since 1991

In honour of many years of intensive cooperation, the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (UCTM) in Sofia (Bulgaria) has awarded the honorary title of "Honorary Professor" to Prof. Stefan Heinrich, Head of the Institute of Solid Process Engineering and Particle Technology at the Hamburg University of Technology.

The honour took place as part of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of UCTM in the presence of the German ambassador in Bulgaria. For more than 30 years, UCTM students have been trained in the German-language degree programme "Chemical Process Engineering" with a double degree from the TU Hamburg. For many years, Prof. Heinrich has been the coordinator on the German side of the DAAD programme for this degree programme, which, in addition to the TU Hamburg, also involves other German partner universities from Bochum, Hanover, Jena, Karlsruhe (KIT), Kassel, Magdeburg and Munich.

TU President Andreas Timm-Giel commented: "I am delighted that our esteemed colleague, Professor Stefan Heinrich, is being awarded an honorary professorship at UCTM on the occasion of the anniversary and congratulate him most warmly on this great honour! This award recognises his outstanding achievements in research and teaching and also shows how important the cooperation between our two universities is."
