Prof. Rombach bids farewell to the TU Hamburg

After more than 27 years at the TUHH, Prof. Rombach is bidding farewell and taking his well-deserved retirement on 1 October 2023.

After more than 27 years at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günter Axel Rombach is bidding farewell and taking his well-deserved retirement on 1 October 2023.

Prof Rombach has been Professor of Solid Construction at the TUHH since 1996. He not only taught with passion and always had an open ear for his students, but also made significant contributions to research. In these, Prof Rombach devoted himself to pioneering topics such as segmental bridges, stresses on silos, unbonded prestressing, shear force bearing capacity of reinforced concrete slabs, shear force design of reinforced and prestressed concrete components and the stresses on the foundations of wind turbines.

In addition to his technical expertise, Prof Rombach was characterised by his exceptional commitment to academic self-administration. His work as a representative for students with disabilities and his involvement in the Faculty Association for Civil Engineering, Geodesy and Environmental Engineering (FTBGU) are particularly noteworthy.

The farewell ceremony for Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günter Axel Rombach took place on 26 September 2023. The event was accompanied by words of welcome from the President Prof Timm-Giel, the Dean of Studies for Civil and Environmental Engineering Prof Shokri, colleagues, the student council and academic staff at the institute.
