Contactless Loudspeaker Array positioning system
Description of the company

Situation
At the Acoustic Flight LAB a loudspeaker array consisting out of 2x 222 speakers serves as a source to reproduce in flight acoustic loads for future a/c configurations. (See Figure)
The loudspeaker array could be moved by electric motors translationally in circumferential direction and towards and away from the fuselage and it could be rotated. In order to perform noise measurements the loudspeaker array needs to be positioned precisely.
Problem
Today the positioning of the loudspeaker array is checked manually by a folding rule. This is especially at array positions high above the floor very difficult and imprecise.
Aims of the project
In the project a contactless measurement system for the loudspeaker array should be designed and developed. Therefore at least the distance between fuselage and the four corners of the speaker array should be measured and displayed to the operator of the loudspeaker array.
Scopes
Within the project a suitable sensor for contactless measuring the distance between loudspeaker array and fuselage should be selected and an appropriate design for attaching this sensor to the loudspeaker array should be developed. Furthermore the necessary hardware and software to display the distances to the operator should be selected and developed.
The mentioned hardware will be provided by Airbus to the students for the duration of the project.
