Short Term Stays

Short-term programmes are one- to four-week courses offered by universities, usually during the summer break. That's why they're called ‘Summer School’. However, there are also programmes that take place in winter or spring (Winter or Spring School). It's a sort of ‘study abroad light’ and is offered on a wide variety of topics.

ECIU University

In the current Erasmus programme cycle (2021–2027), it is possible to receive funding for so-called short-term mobility under the Erasmus programme.

The TU Hamburg supports such short-term mobility exclusively within the framework of the European network of the ECIU University (European Consortium of Innovative Universities).

Master’s students can participate in various ECIU teaching formats and earn ECTS credits or microcredentials. Credit recognition is only available to Master’s students (primarily in the NTA field).

Voraussetzungen

If the learning offerings by the ECIU meet the following criteria, student mobility is generally eligible for funding under Erasmus+:

  • A physical mobility period of at least 5 days
  • A compulsory virtual component before, during or after the physical mobility period
  • Award of at least 3 ECTS
  • The following funding rules apply to the TUHH:

only for Master’s students

  • a maximum of 2 grants for short-term mobility per person
  • only for ECIU Learning Opportunities on the Engage platform
  • a maximum of 3–5 TUHH students can be funded per ECIU-ELO
  • you must have at least 5 days remaining for which you can receive Erasmus funding
Application process

Students interested in participating in an ECIU Learning Opportunity (ELO) should apply directly via the Engage platform, submitting the required documents. The decision on participation is made by the organising university.

At the same time, the Team Outgoing receives regularly updated information on who has successfully applied for an ECIU ELO. Successful applicants will be sent a link to the application form for Erasmus short-term mobility/BIP to apply for financial support.
The application must be received 4–6 weeks before the start of the physical mobility period.

Funding decisions are made on the basis of the above criteria and only AFTER the application deadline for the respective ECIU Learning Opportunity.

Financial help

The financial support (partial scholarship) is intended to cover the additional costs associated with a stay abroad and to make it easier for you to go abroad.
