Writing consutation

Writing Consultation: counseling on the management of writing projects

(bachelor thesis, master thesis, Diplomarbeit, project work, seminar paper, internship report etc.)

The writing consultation service of the Student Counseling Center continues to be available for you by phone, via videotelephony (BigBlueButton) and through e-mail in spite of the limitations regarding the containment of the spread of the Corona virus. You are welcome to ask for an appointment through e-mail or under the phone number +49 (0)40 42878 2232.

In order to support students in writing their final thesis in view of the currently very difficult conditions, marketing professor and writing expert Christina Sichtmann of the University of Vienna has started a very helpful new free series of podcasts. Following the motto "You can do it! Being successful in writing your final thesis", she addresses all important questions around the final thesis. Check it out!

Study-related writing may be an exciting and fruitful activity that opens up new perspectives and that gives pleasure. On the other hand, the composing of academic texts is also a complex process which involves a variety of requirements concerning form, language and contents. Because of this challenging combination of conditions writers may feel dissatisfied regarding the progress or the result of their text production. Writing consultation can help to analyze such problems and to develop suitable approaches for solving them. Students who have few problems in writing are also welcome to make use of this service in order to further enhance their writing practice. The strengthening of your writing competence is relevant to your studies as well as to your professional career. For arrangement of appointments please contact the "Infothek".

Our approach to counseling

Our Approach to Counseling

The Student Counseling Center offers prospective students and students general orientation on their studies as well as psychological and pedagogical counseling (also in English language). Students may refer to the Student Counseling Center in case of personal matters or problems as well as with study-related questions.

The consultation is conducted by choice of the student. It is neutral, open-ended as to the results and confidential. Our counseling follows your individual concerns and topics, which may be related to your studies as well as to personal areas of your life.

Together with you, we develop solutions and strategies for the respective problems and challenges. The counseling is intended to mobilize your resources and to strengthen your own problem-solving skills.

We offer you various settings of consultation, including information events, workshops and one-to-one sessions. You can make an appointment for an initial counseling session in an uncomplicated way and usually without much waiting time through our consultation hours. As necessary, appointments for follow-up sessions can be arranged for.

The Student Counseling Center at TUHH considers itself part of an open-minded and sustainably acting university in an enlightened and diverse society, enabling all students to participate in studies and in student life as independently as possible and with equal opportunities.

We are referring to i.a. the
Counseling principles of the Gesellschaft für Information, Beratung und Therapie an Hochschulen e.V. (GIBeT)
and the
Counseling principles of the Nationales Forum Beratung in Bildung, Beruf und Beschäftigung (NfB)

We are there for you and take the time to listen to your concerns.
