The Ecumenical Emergency Fund provides financial aid for international students in an emergency, so that they can continue to concentrate on their studies during demanding periods, such as exams, internships or similar. Please note that this is not a scholarship, but a temporary support in an emergency situation. The proof of financial distress is required.

Financial Aid for Finalising your Degree 1/Sponsoring body: German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
Who can apply:
International Students of TUHH who are in need of financial help and
-received their university entrance qualification abroad
-are about to finish their studies and graduate at TUHH within 12 month
-with good academic records!
Master degree students can apply for financial aid only for the last semester of their studies.
Scope and form of the Financial Aid:
The aid will be granted for a maximum period of 6 months.
Income through students jobs, financial support from family or spouses and other non-monetary prerequisits (e.g. rent-free accommodation) will be deducted from the full scholarship amount.
Application period: usually the end of February: call with specific dates in 2023 will be published here by International Office.

Financial Aid for Finalising your Degree 2
Who can apply:
International Students of TUHH who are in need of financial help and
-received their university entrance qualification abroad
-are ineligible for the BaföG -allowance
with good academic records!
Master degree students can only apply for financial aid for the last semester of their studies
Sponsoring body: Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg
Scope and form of the Financial Aid:
The aid will be granted for a maximum period of 6 months.
Income through student’s jobs, financial support from family or spouses and other non-monetary prerequisites (e.g. rent-free accommodation) will be deducted from the full scholarship amount.
Application & Information:
The application must be made directly at Studierendenwerk Hamburg
Application period: 30.4. and 31.10. of each year.
Call with specific dates in 2023 will be published on top of the webpage.

Merit grant/Achievements allowance (sposoring body: Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg)
Who can apply: TUHH students with outstanding academic performance
Scope and form: financial aid up to 12 months
Application period: usually July/August (call with specific dates will be published by the International Office)

International students can apply for a scholarship from numerous organisations such as DAAD, politically-affiliated foundations, religious institutions and business-related organisations. You should find out whether you are eligible for scholarships and financial aid from organisations in your home country. With the DAAD Scholarship Database, it´s easy to research various types of scholarships online. Please note, that the applications for some scholarships are only possible from your home country, prior to your study start in Germany!
