The Hamburg University of Technology is represented in two academic fields in the new "Global Ranking of Academic Subjects" (GRAS) 2026 of the Shanghai Ranking. The subjects Mechanical Engineering and Management were able to place within the global top 400 (group 301-400).
These results further underline the international visibility of TU Hamburg’s research, both in the area of engineering sciences and in management. Around 2,000 universities from approximately 100 countries and regions are included in the current edition of the ranking. It covers 57 academic subjects from natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medicine, and social sciences.
GRAS evaluates research performance in five categories: World-Class Faculty, World-Class Output, High-Quality Research, Research Impact, and International Collaboration. Indicators include highly cited researchers, publications in leading journals, field-normalized citation impact, and international research cooperation.
