Around 150 alumni gathered for the Silver Jubilee and the subsequent Alumni Summer BBQ on the campus of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). Some of them had travelled particularly long distances to attend, coming to Hamburg from places including England, the USA and Egypt.
The event began with a ceremonial welcome for the Silver Jubilee celebrants. TUHH President Prof. Dr Andreas Timm-Giel paid tribute to the graduates who had completed their degree or PhD at the Hamburg University of Technology 25 years ago and presented them with their anniversary certificates. For many, it was a moving moment and the perfect opportunity to look back together on their time as students and the journey they have undertaken since then.
Across national and generational boundaries
Afterwards, Dr Ralf Grote, Head of the University Strategy Department at TUHH, led the anniversary guests on a tour of the campus. Here, too, memories of their student days were evoked. At the same time, the tour offered insights into the university’s development and changes over the past 25 years.
Afterwards, alumni from all graduating years were invited to the Alumni Summer BBQ. Over a barbecue and summer drinks, there was ample opportunity to reconnect with former fellow students, swap memories and forge new contacts within the alumni network.
The high level of interest and the presence of international guests clearly demonstrated how closely many alumni still feel connected to their alma mater, even after so many years. The silver jubilee and the Alumni Summer BBQ demonstrated once again what the TU Hamburg alumni network stands for: lifelong connections, vibrant exchanges and a community that transcends national and generational boundaries.
