The first FKE cohort started in December of last year. Over five modules and a total of six sessions, 48 leaders from TU Hamburg participated in the FKE. The program imparts new approaches aligned with the leadership principles of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg (FHH). Topics include, among others, the development of a personal vision and engagement with questions such as: How do I lead myself and my colleagues in a world of change? And how can I design this leadership sustainably and healthily for myself and my team?
The day began with a keynote on "Healthy Leadership" by Katharina Stach, a graduate psychologist and expert in workplace health management. She emphasized the crucial impact that health-conscious leadership has on the well-being and performance of employees. She highlighted how appreciative leadership behaviors contribute to maintaining employees' work ability and motivation in the long term. Afterwards, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion.
Following the keynote, leaders had the chance to explore the "Marketplace of Supportive Offers" in the foyer of the main building A, gaining an overview of numerous internal and external advisory and support services provided by the university. Finally, colleagues from the Human Resources Service as well as the Legal and Committees departments provided information on the topic "Rights and Responsibilities of Leaders."
With the successful completion of the first cycle of Leadership Development, TU Hamburg takes an important step towards strengthening its leadership culture – focusing on empathetic leadership, appreciative communication, and a motivating work environment.
