Renewable Energies, Master of Science

The study programm Renewable Energies (M.Sc.) will no longer be offered as a separate programme at TU Hamburg for first year students from the summer term of 2026. Interested students have the alternative option of applying for the study programm Energy Systems (M.Sc.). This programme offers relevant modules and courses from the Renewable Energies, which can be focused on in the new ‘Green Energy Technologies’ specialisation. 

The study of Renewable Energies with a Master of Science degree at TUHH prepares its graduates for leading positions in the growing energy industry and for independent work in research.

Accordingly, the Master's education is characterized by a scientific orientation, content focus and the teaching of effective, structured, interdisciplinary working methods.

An increased use of renewable energies - and thus of hydropower, wind energy and solar radiation as well as biomass and geothermal energy - in the electricity, heat and fuel markets is a significant key to our future.

Against this background, the aim of this Master's program in Renewable Energies is to enable students to identify, analyze and evaluate solutions to the challenges that will face the energy industry and the various energy systems in the coming years from the perspective of climate protection and security of supply, and to develop strategies for their implementation, based on a sound knowledge of the various options for using renewable energies in contrast to fossil fuels.
