A group of enthusiastic students and research assistants from the Institute of Electrical Power and Energy Technology (ieet) at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH), led by Prof. Christian Becker, recently visited the transmission system operator TenneT Germany.
During the excursion, the students were given a guided tour of the main control center in Lehrte, where they gained exciting insights into the practical aspects of grid management. Marius Hase, an employee at TenneT Germany's North Control Center, gave a vivid and practical presentation on the tasks and challenges of grid management and then took plenty of time to answer the students' numerous questions in a lively and technically sound discussion.
Another highlight was the subsequent tour of the Lehrte substation, where the students were able to learn about the operation of primary and secondary technical systems up close in a winter atmosphere. The tour was conducted with great enthusiasm and expertise by Bernd Keßmeier, also from TenneT Germany.
Excursions like this enable our students to directly link theoretical content from their studies with practical experience and develop a better understanding of the complex interrelationships involved in electrical energy supply.
The team at the Institute of Electrical Power and Energy Technology would like to express its sincere thanks to Mr. Hase, Mr. Keßmeier, and the entire team at TenneT Germany for this informative and inspiring day.
