Teaching at TU Hamburg is innovative, reflective, and inspiring. This was demonstrated for the 10th time by the graduates at the I³ProTeachING closing event on June 5, 2025.

Prof. Tim Schweisfurth from the Institute for Organizational Design and Collaboration Engineering (W-13) opened the event with insights into his didactic experiences from Denmark, the Netherlands, and LMU, emphasizing the central of professional teaching qualification. Afterwards, the commitment of the graduates was honored with the presentation of the I³ProTeachING certificates, which are also recognized in the doctoral supplement.

Eleven teaching innovation projects presented their approaches and results through posters, creatively and effectively addressing challenges in teaching. Student feedback demonstrated how innovative and reflective teaching practices enrich the learning process.

A special focus was on the awarding of the "I³ProTeachING Award for Inspiring Teaching," which was granted by audience vote in the categories Reflection, Networking, Transfer, and Impact. We congratulate the winners:

  • 1st place: Lucas Bublitz (E-EXK3), Nisah Hemadasa Manikku Badu (E-19) with the project “Challenges in PBL: Tackling limited places, hardware and dropouts during the semester”
  • 2nd place: Charlotte Goblirsch (W-3), Viola Kopsch (W-3) & Francisco Carrillo (W-3) with the project “Enhancing Exam Preparation and Feedback with a Chatbot-Supported Bonus Task”
  • 3rd place: Maximilian Kiener (E-EXK3) with the project “Case Studies in the Ethics of Technology: Digital Future Challenge”

I³ProTeachING was initiated in 2019 by the TU Hamburg Executive Board as a flexible, teaching-related professional development program to ensure and stimulate the quality of teaching. It is conducted by the Centre for Teaching and Learning in cooperation with the Graduate Academy. The program comprises 60 hours over a maximum of two years and includes an initial interview, workshops, reflection, observation, a teaching practice project, and a closing event.

Since then, more than 200 teaching professionals have qualified and innovated or analyzed teaching in 115 practical projects. The instructors thus demonstrate not only how they have met changing challenges to teaching—such as the pandemic or artificial intelligence—through individual professionalism and a strong teaching community but also how they significantly contribute to the innovative strength of teaching at our university.

I³ProTeachING remains a key driver for the continuous development of teaching at TU Hamburg. We thank all dedicated educators whose commitment shapes teaching and learning at our university.
