On May 6th, Building A at TU Hamburg once again became a lively meeting place for career questions, future plans, and personal encounters. Between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., nearly 900 students and graduates took the opportunity to engage directly with companies at the Career Forum 2026 hosted by the Career Center. Around 600 participants had already registered in advance.
With the Career Forum, TU Hamburg emphasizes its commitment to connecting students with companies early on and actively supporting the transition from studies to professional life.
Personal exchange was at the heart of the fair. Many students conducted on-site job interviews or arranged concrete next steps for internships, working student positions, and career entry. At the exhibition booths, students could gather general information and directly question company representatives - without time pressure, on equal footing, and with genuine insights gained on both sides. For the students, this means clear orientation for starting their careers, insights into trainee programs and internships, as well as valuable networking contacts.
“The Career Forum is a unique opportunity for companies to specifically get to know students of technical disciplines - people who not only think analytically but are already working practically on real future topics. No job advertisement can replace this direct, personal contact,” says Inken Revenstorff, Consultant at the Career Center.
Especially for international students, the Career Forum offers an important chance to establish contacts with companies early on and to learn about career prospects in Germany. Many of them do not yet have their own professional network or experience with the German job market at the start of their studies. The direct exchange with HR representatives, alumni, and career experts can therefore provide valuable guidance for their further career path.
Practice-Oriented Resources Related to Career Entry
In addition to the 19 participating companies, the Career Forum also featured numerous complementary services. The Go Abroad Fair by International Affairs provided information about study abroad opportunities, while BeSI (Counseling Center for Social and International Affairs), the Hamburg Welcome Center, ECIU University, NIT, Startup Port, and stellenwerk opened up additional perspectives around studies, career, and founding a business.
“A successful fair is not created on the day of the event alone - it is the result of years of experience, targeted communication, and the continuous improvement of many small details,” said Anna-Lena Glesinski, Consultant at the Career Center’s FitING in Germany project. “We are very pleased about the positive feedback from the students. Many were specifically prepared by Career Center colleagues in coaching sessions and workshops. Some even received offers for working student positions right on the spot.”
Participating companies included: ADM, Airbus, atmosfair, AviaCert, Beiersdorf, cbs Corporate Business Solutions, Chartwell Consulting, CONSULAQUA, DLR, DNV, Huawei, Keller Consulting, Keller Grundbau, KPMG, Lufthansa Technik, NXP, Procter & Gamble, VDI, and Vishay Siliconix Itzehoe.
