Research project: "MoSeBe"(Modular Sensor-based diagnosis)
Research area: Aviation MRO, sensors, digitalization, artificial intelligence
Supported by: Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (LuFo V-3)
In collaboration with: Lufthansa Technik, Institute for Aircraft Systems Technology (TUHH)
Start of the project: April 2019
End of project: July 2022

Description:

The “MoSeBe” research project deals with the diagnosis of landing gear components of commercial aircraft.

The aim of the project is a hybrid condition diagnosis by combining model and data-based approaches. For this purpose, the IFPT develops data-based diagnostic approaches that can be integrated into the diagnosis process of landing gear components, which is characterized by manual inspection tasks, and support the evaluation of maintenance data, so that the productivity of the process is increased and the influence of manual activities is reduced. For integration into the diagnosis, the IFPT uses different sensors, the recordings of which are evaluated for defects such as corrosion using machine learning. Using the example of a reference component, an experimental setup is being implemented at the IFPT with which real sensor recordings are collected and the data-driven approaches are tested. The on-wing test bench should then be adapted.
