CompoSeat

Aims

In this joint research project a composite aircraft seat is developed in collaboration with the Lufthansa Technik AG and AIDA Development GmbH.

Key topics of the project are

  • the development of a novel and material appropriate concept for aircraft seating
  • the development of a modular product structure in order to configure a high external product variety while minimizing the internal variety of components and procedures
  • lightweight design by appropriate usage of fibre reinforced plastics

Approach

  • research and analysis of state-of-the-art technologies
  • analysis of requirements
  • research on feasible materials
  • material appropriate design of primary structure
  • FEM analysis and optimization
  • Design for Variety and modularization of the product family
  • testing of material and components
