SUSTRONICS – Sustainable Electronics

The Sustronics project has the objective of creating more sustainable electronic products. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to explore new materials and manufacturing processes, as well as investigate new designs that integrate energy-efficient technologies and enable the circular use of products, in order to further reduce the environmental impact. The project is divided into three use cases. The TUHH is a partner in the area of single-use electronics and is involved in the development of a smart wound dressing.

The IHF is pursuing the implementation of low-power communication on the wound dressing, which will allow the system to transmit wound data and send an alarm when sensor values exceed a threshold. This includes the design of a low-power front-end with high sensitivity, the antenna design, and the investigation of suitable communication protocols. In addition, the use of sustainable materials and manufacturing processes will be investigated.
