QSea II

The QSea II project involves a consortium of NXP Semiconductors Germany, eleQtron and Parity QC, who are working on a modular and scalable quantum computer. The German Aerospace Centre has commissioned and financed the project. The Institute for Microsystems Technology and the University of Hamburg are also involved, in addition to the IHF.

Trapped ions with internal quantum stats used for Qubit encoding form the basis for this quantum computing technology. These internal states can be manipulated specifically via electromagnetic fields in the gigahertz range in order to perform quantum operations. This requires precisely defined signal forms that must be coherently modulated to the relevant carrier frequency. The IHF is developing a parametric signal synthesizer for this purpose. At the same time, concepts that will enable the entanglement of quantum information using microwave signals are being investigated.
