Hamburg University of Technology is pleased to announce that Dr. Frank Kleine Jäger has been awarded the title of professor in accordance with Section 17 of the Hamburg Higher Education Act.
The award of the title is a special distinction that is only conferred on the basis of outstanding achievements - comparable to those of a regularly appointed professor. Candidates often have a high degree of practical relevance and thus optimally complement teaching. In this case, TU Hamburg recognizes the outstanding achievements of Frank Kleine Jäger in the field of solids process engineering.

Prof. Kleine Jäger, Vice President of Solids Processing at BASF, has rendered outstanding services to the development of solids process engineering in the chemical industry, its scientific foundations and its successful implementation in industrial practice.

His very close cooperation with the Department of Process Engineering at the TU Hamburg deserves special mention. Since the summer semester 2018, Dr. Kleine Jäger has been giving the lecture “Solids Process Engineering in the Chemical Industry” and is a member of the advisory board of the Collaborative Research Center “SMART Reactors”.

Kleine Jäger has also made a strong financial commitment to supporting research work at the TU Hamburg, both personally and as a representative of BASF SE. In particular, under his leadership since 2013, BASF, together with Prof. Heinrich's institute, has financed doctoral students in numerous industrial projects and supported them on topics such as the development of continuous spouted bed technology, spray drying of single droplets or the development of a dynamic flow simulation system.

Prof. Kleine Jäger works continuously with numerous partners from universities and research institutes around the world and significantly promotes bridging the gap between university and industry.
Dr. Kleine Jäger is one of six new §17 professors who have been awarded the title at TU Hamburg in the winter semester 2024/2025. He says: “I see the award of the title of professor as a great honor and confirmation of my efforts to link the chemical industry and university teaching and to inspire young people for solid process engineering.”
