Bartosz Tegowski took the 1st place in the GAAS Young Scientist Contest of the 12th Microwave and Radar Week - MIKON 2026 and was awarded the Young Scientist Award.

With the contribution entitled Determination of the Radar Channel Transfer Matrix in the Near-Field of Electrically Large Targets Based on Physical Optics Principles, Bartosz Tegowski took the 1st place in the GAAS Young Scientist Contest of the 12th Microwave and Radar Week - MIKON 2026 and was awarded the Young Scientist Award. The award was presented by GAAS-President Paolo Colantonio during the Closing Session of MIKON 2026 in Kraków, Poland.

The paper deals with an efficient calculation of the radar receive signal in the special case that the radar antennas are located in the near field of an electrically large target. The proposed concept extends the approach published in the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10741260 toward its applicablity to MIMO radar systems. It enables the analysis of near-field effects for MIMO radars as well as large antenna arrays, making it important for the development of future medical radar sensors.

The MIKON conference is part of the Microwave and Radar Week (MRW), which is the major conference in Central Europe in the field of microwave and radar technology.
