Short biography

Dr András József Tóth received his BSc, MSc and PhD degrees from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). He was a postdoctoral fellow for three years, supported by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and for half a year in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Milan. Since 2021, he has been a research group leader and assistant professor at BME. Since 2025, he has been a research fellow at the Hamburg University of Technology, supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

Field of research

Dr András József Tóth's research areas are the treatment of chemical industry waste, separation processes, mainly membrane operations and distillation. In the latter areas, he has performed laboratory experiments, modelled in chemical process simulators, and designed industrial systems. His current research focus is on environmentally benign process design, and more specifically on Life Cycle Assessment of chemical processes.
