Educational Improvements

The PKT Institute is constantly working to improve education. This involves further developing individual courses and modules as well as entire degree programmes. Specific education improvements are made possible by funding teaching innovation projects, e.g. through the TUHH Centre for Teaching and Learning or through central university funds. For a limited period of time, the institute is provided with additional research assistants who, in addition to their scientific work, can focus on improving courses. Examples of ongoing and completed education improvement projects are given below.

If you have any suggestions for further improving our courses, please do not hesitate to contact us.

mytrack Mechanical Engineering

During the project period from 2016 to 2019, Mytrack MB offered both subject-specific tutorials in construction engineering and tutorials on learning methods for exam preparation, including a study group platform and exam simulations. The aim of the Mytrack MB programme is to support students in preparing for retake exams during the second semester exam period. The learning methodology programme is divided into the study group platform, general learning methodology tutorials and exam simulations. The aim of the study group platform is to bring students together in study groups of three to five people to prepare for the repeat exams. These study groups can then register for the tutorials together. In the general part of the tutorials, the small tutorial group analyses the last examination period, deepens general learning and examination strategies, and develops a preparation plan for the upcoming examination period. The retake exam in Mechanics I is prepared by an exam simulation with a mock exam, which is organised in collaboration with the Institute of Mechanics and Marine Technology. In this exam simulation, preparation strategies tailored to the exams are developed and exam content is reviewed.
