On our website you will find insights into our diverse research projects, as well as information about our staff, courses, publications, and the latest news from our institute.

Together with our project partners, we conduct research on innovative topics such as non-contact vital signs measurement using radar for medical, veterinary and industrial applications. Other projects focus on ultra-low power communication networks, permittivity measurements and quantum computing research.

A distinctive feature of our institute is our combination of theoretical and experimental work. We employ advanced simulation techniques, manufacturing processes, precision measurement technology, as well as signal processing and machine learning for data analysis. Thanks to our in-house PCB manufacturing, precision mechanics workshop, and various 3D printers, we can rapidly implement theoretical concepts and test them in our antenna measurement chamber or on our linear stage.

On September, 13th and 14th, 2022 the Hamburg University of Technology will host the 1st Summer School for Machine Learning in Engineering. The Institute of High-Frequency Technology is one of the co-organizers.

On 10th Mai 2022 Mr. M.Sc Moritz Hägermann successfully defended his docotoral thesis with the titel "Backward-Wave Phenomena in Helix Traveling-Wave Tube Amplifiers".

Caspar Wasle wurde als Teilnehmer des International Space Weather Camps (ISWC) ausgewählt. Dieses vom DLR Neustrelitz, der South African National Space Agency (SANSA) und der University of Alabama in Huntsville organisierte Camp bietet Studenten und Absolventen von Studienfächern der Mathematik, Physik, Informatik und Ingenieurswissenschaften die Möglichkeit, sich intensiv mit dem spannenden und hochaktuellen Thema Weltraumwetter zu beschäftigen. Caspar Wasle hat sich zuvor als Wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft und im Rahmen seiner Bachelorarbeit am Institut im Bereich der Satellitenkommunikation (SANTANA-Aero 2) als äußerst engagierter Student hervorgetan. Wir haben Ihn sehr gerne bei seiner Bewerbung für einen Platz beim ISWC unterstützt und freuen uns, dass wir ihm nun zur Annahme gratulieren können. Im Namen des ganzen Instituts wünschen wir Caspar viel Spaß während der drei sicherlich sehr interessanten und lehrreichen Wochen.

Das Institut für Hochfrequenztechnik (IHF) der Technischen Universität Hamburg (TUHH) hat gemeinsam mit Forschern der FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg und der BTU Cottbus einen Artikel in der multidisziplinären Open-Access-Zeitschrift IEEE Access vorgestellt, bei dem die Einsatzmöglichkeiten von maschinellem Lernen zur Schätzung der Einfallsrichtung in Automobilradarsystemen untersucht werden.

Die virtuelle Veranstaltung “Artificial Intelligence in Engineering” bringt jedes Jahr eine Vielfalt von Anwendern aus den Ingenieurwissenschaften und verwandter Gebiete zusammen, um die neuesten AI-Trends in ihrer Berufs-Praxis vorzustellen. Das Event wurde dieses Jahr eröffnet durch die Keynote “Machine Learning in Engineering and Materials Science: On Your Marks, Get Set, … Go!?” von den MLE-Mitgliedern Christian Feiler, Fabian Lurz, Robert Meißner, Stefan Schulte, Christian Schuster und Gregor Vonbun-Feldbauer.

Welcome! The Continuous Innovation Network (CINet) is a global network set up to bring together researchers and practitioners working in the field of Continuous Innovation and related areas of research and practice. The mission of CINet is to progressively become a school of thought on Continuous Innovation. Consistent with this mission, CINet organizes an annual conference. The 25th CINet conference, which will take place in Hamburg, Germany, from 15-17 September 2024. The conference will be hosted by the Institute for Organizational Design and Collaboration Engineering of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), and will be preceded by a PhD workshop, and Young Academics workshop.

Last week, we wrapped up an exciting event on July 4th, showcasing a year of effort by our startup teams. Over the past year, participants received extensive support from Startup Port, partners, and experts, including resources, mentorship, and a collaborative environment to turn their visions into reality.On July 4th, our teams presented their refined ideas to a panel of judges. Each team had worked tirelessly, and it was their moment to shine. We enjoyed music, delicious food from Chickpeace, and post-pitch discussions. Some teams were already planning to implement their ideas and seek investment. The top three teams received prizes, including pre-selection for the Next. Gen Incubator (Körber Start-Hub) and invitations to the Hamburg Innovation Summit in late 2024. The winning team got the chance to attend the Summit, offering a platform to elevate their startup. We also provided access to exclusive networking and lunch events to support and expose our promising startups.In recognition of their hard work and commitment, all participants received certificates from our Jury Members, we had an amazing photo session, and it was really fun to see everyone pitching in. Also, our partners' backing helps us organise such great events. The final pitches were evaluated by a diverse panel of judges, which included professors Paul Drews from the Leuphana University of Lüneburg, a program manager Thorben Koop from IFB, Community Innoimpact, Laura Savoca from Otto Krahn Group, Anika Hamester, Nono Weinzierl from Orbit - orbitdigital.de and other established professionals.The best part about such a panel is the feedback from five different perspectives, finance, and industry-ensuring a well-rounded assessment of each startup.The skills, knowledge, and networks these students have built over the past year are invaluable. We celebrate their achievements and look forward to seeing how they will innovate and impact the world. We might see the next big company emerge from one of these pitches.Startup Port is committed to nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs. At the TUHH graduation ceremony, which took place on the 28th of June 2024 in the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle in Heimfeld, Dr.-Ing. Jan Brumm received the prize for one of the best-designed doctoral hats. Colleagues and fellow doctoral students at the Institute of Communications spent a lot of time, effort and creativity in creating the hat which depicts the topic of his dissertation, conferences visited as well as workplace habits and his private life.

Wir freuen uns, dass unsere ehemalige Studentin Jana Kamma mit dem Wissenschaftspreis der Gisela und Erwin Sick Stiftung in der Kategorie "Beste Masterarbeit" ausgezeichnet wurde. Herzlichen Glückwunsch zu dieser tollen Leistung, Jana! Der Wissenschaftspreis wurde in diesem Jahr zum zehnten Mal an der TUHH für herausragende Arbeiten im Themenfeld "Technisch-wissenschaftlicher Fortschritt zum Vorteil von Mensch und Gesellschaft" verliehen. Janas Masterarbeit mit dem Titel "Umrichtermodellierung zur Repräsentation von Interaktionen im Sinne der Converter-Driven Stability" gibt Modellierungsempfehlungen, um aussagekräftige und sichere Stabilitätsanalysen zukünftiger umrichterdominierter elektrischer Energienetze durchführen zu können.
