The Institute of Geo-Hydroinformatics (GHI) has established a Living Lab and research site (990 m2) under the CampusLAB initiative at TUHH to promote collaborative research and education between TUHH and the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH). This Living Lab serves as an integrated platform where students and researchers bridge theoretical understanding with practical applications to address real-world environmental challenges. Within this framework, the module Field Measurements for Environmental Studies offered by GHI uses the Living Lab as a hands-on training environment that enables students to develop essential skills in environmental sensing technologies and data collection. Students will gain practical experience using advanced environmental monitoring instruments and soil characterization tools (such as Electrical Resistivity Tomography), complemented by the integration of virtual and augmented reality technologies. By combining cutting-edge research infrastructure with experiential learning, the Living Lab advances innovation in soil, water, and climate studies while supporting the training of future environmental experts.
