The Institute for Digital Economics is part of the school of Management Sciences and Technology at the Hamburg University of Technology. We study decision making, strategic interaction and the impact of digitisation on markets and organisations. We use econometric methods as well as laboratory, online and field experiments to analyse human behaviour. Our empirical work is rooted in decision theory and game theory, and we also aim to develop new behavioural economic theories. In summer 2025, we opened our Experimental Economics Lab (HHIDE Lab), which provides state-of-the-art infrastructure for experimental research.
YOUR TASKS
- Conduct independent and collaborative research projects on behavioural economics, the design of digital markets and/or decision making under uncertainty
- Present research results at conferences and publish articles in peer- reviewed academic journals
- Contribute to teaching and supervise final theses (Bachelor’s and Master’s level)
- Manage project-related tasks and assist in preparing applications for third-party funding
YOUR PROFILE
Requirements
- Completed scientific university studies, in particular in the subject economics, computer science, industrial engineering, business administration, or another relevant field
Desired knowledge and personal skills
- Strong research interest in the impact of digitalization on markets and organizations and/or current topics in behavioral economics
- Solid knowledge of empirical research methods (in particular econometrics or experimental economics)and good command of microeconomic theory
- Independent and conscientious working style, high level of self-motivation, strong teamwork skills andopenness to new ideas
- Very good command of English (B2/C1, spoken and written); German is an asset but not a requirement
