Education at the IUE

The Institute for Environmental Technology and Energy Economics sets great value upon teaching. In addition to several courses offered to students of the TUHH, the institute is involved in national and international educational projects: e.g. a student exchange with Jordan universities, Erasmus+ / DAAD projects, RECREEW Spring School and an „integral“ advanced training program for refugee-engineers. For further information see the navigation bar.

The following list contains the courses of the IUE open for students of TUHH this semester. Students can find further information on Stud.IP.

Process Imaging (PBL)
Untertitel:
This course is part of the module: Process Imaging
DozentIn:
Prof. Dr. Alexander Penn, Dr. rer. nat. Stefan Benders, Dr. Maria Raquel Serial, M. Sc, Melis Özdemir
Veranstaltungstyp:
PBL -Projekt-/problembasierte Lehrveranstaltung
Beschreibung:

Content: The module focuses primarily on discussingestablished imaging techniques including (a) optical and infrared imaging, (b)magnetic resonance imaging, (c) X-ray imaging and tomography, and (d)ultrasound imaging and also covers a range of more recent imaging modalities. The students will learn:

  1. whatthese imaging techniques can measure (such as sample density or concentration, material transport, chemical composition, temperature),
  2. howthe measurements work (physical measurement principles, hardware requirements, image reconstruction), and
  3. howto determine the most suited imaging methods for a given problem.

Learning goals: After the successful completion ofthe course, the students shall:

  1. understandthe physical principles and practical aspects of the most common imagingmethods,
  2. beable to assess the pros and cons of these methods with regard to cost, complexity, expected contrasts, spatial and temporal resolution, and based onthis assessment
  3. beable to identify the most suited imaging modality for any specific engineeringchallenge in the field of chemical and bioprocess engineering.
