AGENT-BASED MODELING & SIMULATION OF INNOVATION DIFFUSION IN SILVER MARKETS

RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

This project aims at a deeper understanding of the core elements influencing innovation diffusion in markets affected by aging based on a theoretically and empirically grounded agent-based model, by answering the following questions:

•What are the central elements in an agent-based model of innovation diffusion in markets affected by an aging population? Can the stylized facts about diffusion of innovation be reproduced via an agent-based simulation?

•To which extent do network properties and individual characteristics of aging consumers affect the diffusion processes?

•What possible scenarios of innovation diffusion in markets affected by aging exist and what are the main drivers for the differences?

•What managerial and political options of influencing these adoption processes do exist?
