BEEM Team Outing: A Rainy Day Watt Hike to Neuwerk Turns into a Memorable Adventure

The Electron Microscopy Unit (BEEM) enjoyed a special team outing yesterday, embracing true North Sea spirit despite persistent rain. The group set off from the beach in Sahlenburg for a guided 9‑kilometer hike across the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea,

making their way through tidal flats, shallow channels, and past the traditional navigation markers that lead to the island of Neuwerk.

Even with wet weather overhead, the mood remained upbeat. The shared experience of crossing the expansive mudflats turned into a fun and energizing team activity, strengthening camaraderie along the way.

Upon arriving on Neuwerk, the group gathered for a well‑deserved meal before boarding the ferry back to Cuxhaven. The combination of nature, teamwork, and maritime atmosphere made the outing a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable day for the BEEM team.
