How can undersea earthquakes be predicted in time, how can coastlines be protected more sustainably or how can mussel beds be preserved more effectively?
The primary goal of the new EU-funded project NOESIS (Network for Oceanic Sensing and Integrated Science) is to fundamentally modernize the way the worldโs oceans are monitored, understood, and managed.
Through an interdisciplinary approach, NOESIS combines technological innovation with extensive expertise and infrastructure in ocean observation. In doing so, the project enables a shift from passive, retrospective collection of marine data toward autonomous, real-time ocean observation and analysis - โ๐ข๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒโ
Starting in October 2026 under the lead of the University of Helsinki, a total of 15 doctoral positions (PhD positions) will be advertised and filled across Europe with a funding budget of โฌ4.5 million.
