"ThinkingViT: Matryoshka Thinking Vision Transformer for Elastic Inference" has just been accepted to CVPR! ThinkingViT brings thinking-style adaptive computation to Vision Transformers by letting the model “think more” only when an image is hard, and exit early when it is confident. Concretely, ThinkingViT activates a small subset of the most important attention heads for an initial prediction, and progressively expands to larger subsets only if the confidence (entropy) suggests that more computation is needed. To make each rethink more powerful, we introduce Token Recycling, which fuses previous-stage embeddings back into the input so the model refines its decision instead of starting from scratch. As part of our CRC seminar series, Professor Galvanin gave an inspiring lecture on "Advanced Applications and Novel Methods in Model-Based Design of Experiments".

Last week, we held our internal annual #FST research conference. Each research associate presented their research topic in a short five-minute pitch, followed by an open discussion. These sessions are a great opportunity to learn about the work of our colleagues across the institute, identify synergies, and exchange ideas on future research directions.

30 participants gained hands-on experience in advanced methods for the design of experiments at a one-day intensive workshop at TUHH.

TUHH researchers Asif Shaik, Swantje Pietsch-Braune, Melis Özdemir, Muhammad Adrian, Alexander Penn, and Stefan Heinrich together with Stefan Pirker (JKU Linz) have presented their latest results on MRI-validated CFD-DEM and rCFD of a bubbling fluidized bed.
