CampusLAB inaugurated on World Environment Day

CampusLAB on Global Soil Health, Water, and Climate was officially inaugurated at Hamburg University of Technology

On World Environment Day, the CampusLAB on Global Soil Health, Water, and Climate was officially inaugurated at Hamburg University of Technology, marking an important milestone for research, education, and international collaboration in environmental sciences.

The inauguration was attended by Prof. Tshilidzi Marwala, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Rector of the United Nations University, Prof. Andreas Timm-Giel, President of TU Hamburg, and Prof. Kaveh Madani, Director of UNU-INWEH, as well as distinguished researchers from the University of Calgary, City College of New York, Lund University, TU Dresden, and other partner institutions.

The CampusLAB includes a 990 m² Living Lab equipped with advanced environmental monitoring systems and immersive augmented and virtual reality technologies. The facility enables real-time observation of soil, water, and land–atmosphere interactions while providing a unique platform for research, education, and international collaboration.

The inauguration on World Environment Day reflects the CampusLAB's commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and developing innovative solutions to global challenges related to soil health, water resources, and climate. By combining state-of-the-art research infrastructure with hands-on learning, the CampusLAB serves as a platform for training the next generation of environmental scientists and engineers while strengthening collaboration between TU Hamburg and the United Nations University.
