Last week, the kick-off meeting of the #LuFo 7.1 project #ATLAS (Air Transport Analysis and Technology Synergy Study) took place at #RWTH Aachen.
The #FST and academic partners from twelve institutions across Germany came together to present the project’s objectives and ensure a smooth project start.
The project aims to provide clear recommendations for action for the next generation of long-range aircraft. Within three main work packages, the consortium will establish simulation and evaluation capabilities across all three system levels: the air transportation system, the aircraft, and individual technologies.
FST focuses on the development and sizing of the liquid hydrogen system, as well as the thermal management system, and on the integration of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) powertrain components in cooperation with #Fraunhofer #IISB. This includes identifying synergy effects between these systems to enable an energy-efficient aircraft design.
