The General Student Committee (AStA) is the executive and representative body of the student body

The AStA is elected annually by the student parliament and is accountable to it. In addition, the AStA manages the finances of the student body and draws up the student body's budget.

The AStA or its chair acts as the direct representative and mouthpiece of the student body on all university and higher education policy issues.

Internally, the AStA is divided into 11 departments, each of which is staffed by one or two elected representatives. The current departments are listed below:
