This project develops and evaluates a prototype of a reusable and fully recyclable mono-material plastic packaging solution for cosmetic products. One of the main objectives, in which the Circular Cities team is actively involved, is to assess the environmental performance of the prototype reusable bottle and to systematically compare it with conventional single-use PET and HDPE bottles using detailed LCA modeling. The analysis investigates the influence of key system parameters on environmental performance, such as return rates, number of use cycles, and recycled content, in order to identify the conditions under which reusable packaging provides clear environmental benefits. The results are intended to support evidence-based design choices and contribute to the development of more sustainable packaging systems in urban circular economy contexts.
