New Faces at BlueMat

BlueMat Graduate Academy

Dr. Milena Parlak

I am the Coordinator for Transferable Qualifications in the Cluster of Excellence BlueMat. Having completed a PhD myself, I know firsthand what it means to navigate the doctoral phase and the questions that come with it. Afterwards, as a coordinator of a DFG-funded consortium, I was responsible for designing and organizing the qualification program of the graduate school for doctoral candidates. I am now excited to support early-career researchers in developing skills that are valuable both within and beyond academia.

BlueMat Data Steward

Seoyun Sohn

I am responsible for organizing and managing BlueMat’s research data. This means I make sure the data follows the right rules and standards and can be easily used by researchers working together. My background in materials science is very helpful in this role, as it gives me firsthand experience with how complex research data is generated and used in practice. I completed a PhD at Hamburg University of Technology on the mechanical behavior and hydrogen interactions of nanostructured materials, and now I am looking forward to contributing to BlueMat and supporting its rapidly growing data ecosystem.

BlueMat Editor

Christina Röder

Science communication is at the core of my work as BlueMat’s editor and content producer. With a background in journalism, I focus on sharing BlueMat’s scientific research with a broader audience. Through articles for online and offline media, as well as press outreach, I aim to raise awareness of the cluster’s research in materials and water beyond the academic community.
