Workshops by Students for Students at the WorkINGLab

At the WorkINGLab, you can develop new skills through hands-on experience. The workshops are led by fellow students who share their knowledge and practical expertise. Whether it’s soldering, measuring with the oscilloscope, CAD design, 3D modeling, woodturning, milling, metal turning, bike repair, and much more — our workshops give you the opportunity to explore tools and machines while building practical skills.

Below you’ll find descriptions and registration links for our workshops.
For the latest updates, visit our Stud.IP group.

If you’d like to offer a workshop yourself (whether you’re a student or a research assistant) feel free to get in touch with us. We’re always happy to see new ideas and workshop proposals!

Dates and Registration

Soldering
22.10.25, 21.01.26

In this soldering workshop led by Steffen and Ashwin, you’ll learn how to use a soldering iron safely and build your own circuit board to control an LED strip. A materials fee of €10 applies.

06.11.25

In Tom’s workshop, you’ll get an introduction to 3D design using Fusion 360. As TUHH students, you can use Autodesk’s software free of charge — which is why we use it in this session.

Through a series of small design tasks, you’ll explore the program’s key features and tools. With guidance and support, you’ll gradually learn to model your own parts step by step.

Precisely Drilled (Introduction to the Drill Press with a Creative Laser-Cut Project)
14.11.25

In this workshop led by Leonid and Luca, you’ll design and build your own key rack! First, you’ll personalize an existing design using Inkscape, then cut it from plywood with the laser cutter.

In the second part of the workshop, you’ll assemble your piece and learn how to use the drill press safely and properly. While drilling the mounting holes, you’ll practice precision work and discover what’s most important when operating a drill press.
