Student Assistant needed / Studentische Hilfskraft gesucht (m/f; Ref.: Stud-Klimapolis)

The BMBF funded collaborative project Klimapolis is a joint partnership between Germany and Brazil. The project will operate in diverse urban environments across Brazil, initially in Sao Paulo, and then moving to other urban areas in the Northeast of Brazil, focusing on the major sources of carbon emission (in particular transport). With the use of a network of observations and state-of-the-art modeling tools, Klimapolis partners will work towards the reinforcement of the Brazilian climate and air quality research networks, which will be linked with research activities conducted in Germany.
The project is coordinated by the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology (MPI-M) in Hamburg, with several collaborating partners in Germany and Brazil. List of partners and other details can be found on the website The project, through an agreement signed between MPI-M and the University of São Paulo in Brazil, has established the Klimapolis Laboratory, which will develop a joint Brazilian German transdisciplinary research program that will work with city officials in Brazil, and assess win-win solutions that will lead to the to the development of environmentally resilient cities in Brazil.
For the period of 1.12.2019 – 30.11.2020, Klimapolis is looking for a student assistant to support the project for up to 6 hours/week, with potential for extension. The project office is located near GEOMATIKUM at Schlump, Hamburg.

  • Bachelor or master student in Geoscience or Social Science
  • German-speaking and with very good command of English (for editing and translation of texts)
  • Knowledge of website editing in CMS environment (preferentially Typo3), and
  • preferably also familiar with graphics programs (especially Photoshop)
