Abstract: The early design of a prototype dominated industry as ship building, needs software tools for a dedicated analysis of technical design decisions. Commercial software is often not able to handle such specific demands. Otherwise, a software development of one’s own is an ambitious task, which needs many resources. Especially small and medium sized companies are limited in such IT resources. Therefore cooperation with strategic partners can reduce the costs for developing and maintaining a software platform which can be used for implementation of one’s own technical “First-Principle- Methods”. A procedural wizard driven workflow can be used to implement a framework where engineers are able to put in small separate numerical functionalities. This concept will be explained by means of a potential theory method for calculation of rudder forces.
