Applied Dynamics

Numerical and Experimental Methods
Term: Summer Semester
Lecturer:

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Robert Seifried

Dr.-Ing. Marc-André Pick

General Information

The course Applied Dynamics is offered for students in the Master program of "Theoretical Mechanical Engineering". It consists of a lecture and a laboratory. Discussed topics are numerical and experimental methods of applied dynamics.

The main focus of this lecture is put on multibody dynamics. With this method machines, robots, vehicles, and various other applications can be investigated, consisting of rigid parts which are subject to large, non-linear movements. The lecture deals with the following topics: modelling of multibody systems, kinematic and kinetic fundamentals, constraints, multibody systems in minimal coordinates, state space, linearization and modal analysis, multibody systems with kinematic loops, multibody systems in DAE representation, nonholonomic multibody systems and control of multibody systems.

During the laboratory, experiments from different fields of the experimental mechanics are performed independently in groups of up to four students. The focus is on experimental oscillation analysis. The particular content of the experiments is defined individually every year. Besides knowledge on the current problem, experience with measuring instruments, sensors, signal processing devices, and computational measurement data processing shall be gained through the experiments.

Registration

Students, that would like to attend the course, should sign up through StudIP , before the semester starts. In the lecture the groups are formed for the laboratory. The final appointment for the course will be coordinated and announced via StudIP.
