
Leon Tietkens’ research investigates the upscaling of bioreactors operating with complex media, covering scales from pilot to industrial applications. The focus is on generating comprehensive experimental data set for the purpose of validation of CFD simulations based on the Lattice-Boltzmann-Method. The aim is to develop reliable simulations of pilot- and industrial-scale bioreactors. The research is a part of the TRABOULE project (TRAjectory Based Optimal UpscaLing of biorEactors) funded by the ANR and DFG. As a German French project his research is in close cooperation with the IFPEN in Lyon, France.
