Research Groups

Research at the ieet is organized into four research groups that jointly address the transformation of electrical energy systems – ranging from planning and operation to system stability and onboard energy systems in maritime and aviation applications.

Research Projects

The ieet conducts research projects across all four research groups, often in collaboration with industry and academic partners.

Publications

A complete overview of all ieet publications is available via the open-access repository TUHH Open Research (TORE).

Events

The ieet is a co-organizer of the DiGiSect Expert Workshop – an international platform for researchers and industry partners focusing on the digitalization and operation of sector-coupled energy systems. The workshop is held annually and hosted on a rotating basis by the participating partner institutions.

Laboratories

For experimental research, the ieet operates two laboratory environments: the PHiLsLab (Power Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation Laboratory), which is jointly operated with the Institute for Mechatronics in Mechanics (iMEK), and a smart grid laboratory environment for real-time simulation and testing of new control and protection concepts.
