Ms. Mehraneh Seyedan
I completed my Bachelor’s studies in Water Science and Engineering at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran, where I built a strong foundation in hydrology, hydraulics, and environmental systems. During that time, I discovered my interest in Remote Sensing and GIS and applied these methods to projects such as mapping land-use changes and assessing rainfed barley suitability in eastern Iran.
In 2023, I moved to Hamburg to begin my Master’s in Environmental Engineering at Technische Universität Hamburg (TUHH). My studies focus on the relationship between climate, the environment, and water systems. Alongside my academic work, I am employed as a research assistant at the Institute of Geo-Hydroinformatics and at the Institute of Hydrology and Water Resources Management (Wasserbau), where I contribute to research projects dealing with real-world water and environmental challenges.
Since July 2025, I have been working on my project research under the supervision of Dr. Milad Aminzadeh and Prof. Dr. Nima Shokri. My work examines how human-constructed water infrastructures influence the shrinkage of global endorheic lakes — a topic that bridges climate science, hydrology, human activity, and sustainability. Since December 2025, I have also been responsible for public outreach at the GHI Institute.
Through both my studies and research roles, my goal is to make a meaningful contribution to environmental understanding and to support pathways toward sustainable water management.
