Ms. Mehraneh Seyedan

I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Water Science and Engineering at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran, where I developed a strong foundation in hydrology, hydraulics, and environmental systems. During this time, I discovered my enthusiasm for Remote Sensing and GIS, which I explored through a land use/land cover change project and an internship on rainfed barley suitability mapping in eastern Iran.
In 2023, I moved to Hamburg to begin my Master’s in Environmental Engineering at Technische Universität Hamburg (TUHH), where I focus on the intersections of environment, climate, and water. Alongside my studies, I work as a research assistant at the Institute of Geo-Hydroinformatics and the Institute of Hydrology and Water Resources Management (Wasserbau). These roles allow me to contribute to projects that address real-world water challenges while strengthening my expertise in geospatial analysis and environmental monitoring.
Since July 2025, I have been working on my master’s thesis under the supervision of Dr. Milad Aminzadeh and Prof. Dr. Nima Shokri. My research examines the role of human-made water storages in the shrinkage of endorheic lakes, combining my technical background with my interest in understanding human–environment interactions. Through this work, I aim to contribute both scientifically and practically to sustainable water resource management.
